In 1881 Andrew had returned with his family to Eccleshill as the innkeeper at Handel's Arms (old or new?) Alice (18) and Andrew (15) were working as cotton weavers. Other members of the family were Elizabeth (13), Catherine (9), John (7), Ann (5) and Mary (2).
Andrew built the 'new' houses on Dandy Row (numbers 18,22,24,26) and lived in number 18 before moving to number 2, working as a clog bottom maker and storing timber in the adjoining 'lamp oil shed'. Numbers 2-6 were probably renovated at about the same time. Number 2 still has (inside the new porch) the lintel from the old Handels Arms (it names the innkeeper and potter from the 1850's, Ormerod Holden).
